OCO’s London & Frankfurt offices currently have openings for experienced International Trade Advisior-Project Managers.  The successful candidate will work as part of OCO London’s trade team and will be responsible for supporting SMEs with internationalisation.  The jobholder will be responsible for managing individual client engagements as well as managing overall trade programmes with Economic Development Organisations (EDOs).  This varied and exciting role will involve supporting companies with a range of services including market research, go-to market strategy, distributor search, value proposition development, customer targeting and business development as well as local network development.   Typically, this role will involve supporting international companies into the UK and Europe, so having strong local networks and business understanding is critical.   The key target markets we work with in Europe include the UK, Germany, Italy, France and Benelux so any experience with these markets is of interest.  In addition, the main sectors we work with include food, textiles, manufacturing/advanced materials and healthcare/life sciences, so deep experience in any of these sectors is also of interest.

Key responsibilities of the role:

  • Delivery of individual projects for SMEs seeking help with understanding market opportunities, tailoring their proposition for the market and then outreaching to new clients and partners
  • Project management of EDO trade programmes ensuring profitable delivery and high client satisfaction
  • Delivering individual and group trade missions
  • Identifying and contacting senior executives on behalf of companies
  • Upselling, cross selling and finding new opportunities for OCO with EDOs and private sector SMEs
  • Consistently building out a network of relevant industry contacts and multipliers
  • Thought leadership on industry trends and international trade
  • Clear communication with clients and timely reporting
  • Develop up- and cross-sell opportunities with the aim of growing the account
  • Creating business development opportunities and writing / contributing to proposals
  • Any other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Third level degree or equivalent professional qualification in Business, Economics, Geography (other disciplines will be considered where candidates can demonstrate core skills required).

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • At least 4 years’ experience in international trade / business development and / or economic development
  • Demonstrable commercial experience in one or more of the industries and markets listed above
  • Experienced in developing expansion / market entry solutions to SMEs
  • Proven experience in meeting and exceeding targets
  • Very strong communication skills
  • Very strong research and analytical skills
  • Ability to work to deadlines and targets
  • The right to live and work in the UK or Germany
  • Flexible attitude and willingness to undertake travel on a regular basis
  • Computer literate (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Fluency in German & English (Frankfurt position)

 

Desirable criteria:

  • Fluent in other European languages, particularly German, Dutch or French
  • Strong industry expertise and networks
  • Understanding of internationalisation, be that exporting or sourcing
