SelectUSA OCO Global

After a virtual conference in 2021, SelectUSA is back and in person!

And this year the agenda is stacked as the captains of industry and leading entrepreneurs from around the world descend upon Maryland to learn about the US market and connect with economic development agencies from across the 50 states and beyond. Helping to fly the flag from Ireland, this year OCO is supporting 30 Irish entrepreneurs to network at America’s premier foreign direct investment event as part of a delegation organised by US Embassy, Ireland.

Why Select USA?

SelectUSA Investment Summit is the highest-profile event dedicated to promoting foreign direct investment (FDI) in the United States bringing together over 3,000 participants.

This signature event provides an unparalleled opportunity to bring together companies from all over the world, economic development organizations from every corner of the nation, and supportive partners working to facilitate business investment in the United States. Featuring senior government officials, C-Suite business executives, and other thought leaders, the summit focuses on a timely theme related to the U.S. investment environment, industry trends, and new opportunities. Select USA is a cornerstone event with a yearly keynote speech from the US President. With a backdrop of global uncertainties and a looming recession, this year’s speech from President Biden is not one to be missed.

Ireland selects the US

After two years of lockdowns and flight bans, Ireland continues to look towards the US market for growth and market development. A recent study conducted by our consultancy team revealed the economic impact of Ireland within the US. 875 Irish owned companies’ employ over 303,000 people across the US and not just in the traditional Irish hubs of Boston, New York and Chicago.

The Kerry Group’s US epicentre is based in Wisconsin with roughly 3,000 people employed across the nation. Meanwhile, Kilkenny powerhouse Glanbia, currently has over 250 people based in its Idaho site. And that’s just two examples – Irish start-ups and entrepreneurs are now rooting themselves in new tech ecosystems in Ohio, Texas, Washington and Florida. For the data folks out there, between 2016-2020, Ireland to US trade was worth $243.9bn.

OCO flies the flag

This year OCO is supporting a multi-sector delegation of Irish companies by hosting a networking reception during SelectUSA. The event will bring Irish entrepreneurs into direct contact with economic development practitioners from across the US providing a unique forum for new business relationships to be forged between Maryland and Monaghan, Ohio and Offaly, Galway and Georgia

We are delighted to share that the US Ambassador to Ireland, whose family originally hail from Donegal, Claire D. Cronin, will also be in attendance and lending her support to the continued economic and entrepreneurial links between the United States and Ireland.
