Purpose of Role

We are seeking a junior business development project manager interested in international business and economic development.   Working as part of OCO’s US team based in our Los Angeles office the successful candidate will support the delivery of trade and lead generation projects and be responsible for increasing sales in OCO’s business intelligence product Velociti.

Foreign Direct Invest (FDI) & Trade:

  • Supporting Project Managers on investment attraction campaigns and successful service delivery against targets
  • Identifying and contacting companies from relevant geographies who are planning cross-border investment to understand their investment needs
  • Telephone and face to face meetings with US companies to provide specific location solutions and sector propositions to help businesses to decide to invest in client territories
  • Attendance at industry events to expand networks and identify investing companies
  • Develop and maintain a network of intermediaries and multipliers
  • Conducting inward investment trends analysis and reporting
  • Monitoring investment trends through daily alerts
  • Be an initial point of contact for new client opportunities, while managing the response process across multiple potential engagements
  • Respond to client inquiries in a timely and professional manner
  • Develop sales proposals to outline our services to prospects
  • Conduct business development activities on behalf of clients
  • Contribute to monthly reporting
  • Author case studies


  • Researching prospective clients / organisations through a variety of resources to identify new leads and potential new markets
  • Work collaboratively with the Marketing Department on targeted sales campaigns and events
  • Actively manage the sales process with decision makers from initial contact to contract signing
  • Preparing and delivering presentations and pitches to potential new clients
  • Develop quotes and proposals
  • Maintain long term relationships with existing clients
  • Regular travel will be required



  • 4-year college degree
  • 1-2 years’ experience in business development
  • Articulate, dynamic, driven, self-motivated and enthusiastic
  • Confident communications skills – both verbal and written
  • Strong attention to detail and
  • Strong research skills
  • Comfort in working across different sectors
  • Exercises high-level analytical and logical ability in defining problems that are technically complex/conceptually abstract, generates solutions using creative thinking skills/intuition
  • Thinks clearly, stays focussed under pressure, proven ability to prioritise workload under pressure to successful conclusion
  • Ability to work well in a small team environment as well as individually
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint
