Purpose of the role

OCO Global is a leading authority on foreign investment and offers a range of economic development services, products and unique company assessment tools. With headquarters in Belfast and offices in Dublin, London, Paris, Frankfurt, Berlin, New York, Dubai, Shanghai and Tokyo, we employ a multinational and multilingual staff of over 130 full time consultants specializing in Trade and Investment.

OCO Germany currently has an opening for a Manager role in the Consulting division based in Berlin or Frankfurt a.M. The successful candidate will lead OCO Germany’s Consulting Division and will be responsible for the growth and management of the Consulting business within the German market and for the successful delivery of various client projects. The purpose of this role is to assist public sector clients (i.e. economic development organizations, EDOs) and private companies with strategic advice within the field of international business and expansion.

Role & key responsibilities

  • Manage our consulting services operations for public sector clients and private companies at OCO Germany
  • Grow and manage the performance of OCO’s line of business “Consulting” within the German market with a focus on public sector clients such as governments and ministries or national and regional EDOs
  • Lead on strategic projects for public sector clients (EDOs) such as FDI attraction and export promotion strategies, structural and organisational benchmarking studies, aftercare strategies, amongst others
  • Set the strategy for consulting business in DACH-market and strengthen OCO’s competitive positioning
  • Drive business development to grow OCO Germany’s consulting business and take leadership on proposals
  • Thought leadership – drive OCO brand in market by creating thought leadership content
  • Project management and successful service delivery against targets and timeline in relation to a number of larger and more complex consulting projects including leading on key account contracts
  • Support strategic projects for private companies such as global footprint assessments, international site selection and location benchmarking, international expansion, and diversification strategies
  • Manage the division’s operations including resource allocation, team performance, on-the-job support, conducting annual staff reviews, provide coaching and mentoring to team members, support recruiting
  • Any other duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience required

  • Several years of experience in project management, delivery and / or business development
  • Experience in the field of economic development consulting, international trade and investment
  • German native speaker and fluent English both written and spoken, ideally another language
  • Track record of managing project teams and client relationships
  • Proven experience of identifying and contributing to new business opportunities
  • Strong commercial skills to ensure revenue growth and division profitability
  • Proven people management and interpersonal skills, excellent communication and networking skills
  • Strong organisational skills to oversee multiple contracts and ensure project delivery
  • Optional: experience with international development donors (i.e. GIZ or similar)
  • Right to work in Germany
